2024 – 2025 Season

Sense & Sensibility By Kate Hamill

Directed by Jess Reed

A playful new adaptation of Jane Austen’s beloved novel follows the fortunes (and misfortunes) of the Dashwood sisters – sensible Elinor and hypersensitive Marianne – after their father’s sudden death leaves them financially destitute and socially vulnerable. Set in gossipy late 18th-century England, with a fresh modern voice, the play is full of humor, emotional depth, and bold theatricality. Sense and Sensibility examines our reactions, both reasonable and ridiculous, to societal pressures. When reputation is everything, how do you follow your heart?

FOR BETTER

A Rom-Com by Eric Coble

YCP TheaterWorks presented a staged reading of the romantic comedy, FOR BETTER, by Eric Coble, directed by Melinda O’Brien from September 27 through October 6, 2024 at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of the Hudson Valley, 2021 Albany Post Road, Croton-on-Hudson NY 10520.

In this plugged-in world of email, text-messaging and camera phones, do a bride and groom really need to be in the same country to go on a honeymoon? Karen and Max are getting married. At least, if their jobs will ever let them be in the same city at the same time. A romantic comedy for the digital age, FOR BETTER is a hilarious farce that pokes fun at our overdependence on the gadgets in our lives.

The cast includes (left to right): Kacey Morabito Grean, Jim Petrillo, Floyd Gumble,  Alessandra Robinson, Katrina Holmes and Richard Troiano. Stage management by Emmy Schwartz and Nan Weiss.
